The Blue City walk is the finest way to explore Real Jodhpur. The walk takes one into the heart of the old city where one takes a Heritage walk in the valley of the Fort of Jodhpur along the lanes and by lanes and leaves one mesmerised. Blue city as the old part of the city is called is the place where each house was painted in the sky blue colours reflecting sunlight and thus keeping the houses cool. It also gave an open sketching and painting backdrop for the house to be beautified with murals and historical sets glorifying the Kings and the Gods.

Each area of the city was defined as per the nature of setup of the society by virtue of religion, caste, business etc and was known to be the finest planned cities protected by the Forces of the Royals from the Fort. The walk by foot starts from Bhrampuri to Nav Choukiya to Sarafa Baaar and Katla bazar. Brahmpuri is the settlement of the Brahmins where the blue houses are packed together along narrow streets. Other sites include historic temples and shrines as well as ponds and ancient wells which are still used. Sarafa Bazaar was the locality of the jewellers and goldsmiths and continues to be the jewellers hub. Katla bazaar was the business hub in the old times and still a hotspot of businesses.

The old city has been a popular meeting place for many centuries. Local villagers in vibrant dress congregate here to find work, old men sip chai and play cards and the place is takes one back in time and leaves many a photo opportunities. Gangshyam ji ka mandir is a lively temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. & walks around the famous Clock Tower where the famous cuisine from Jodhpur, including makhaniya lassi and mawe ki kachori can be relished.
